Licenses & credits

Where DingSong's music, instrument sounds, sheet music, and fonts come from, and how you can use them.

Background music

  • The tracks play only on the web page; DingSong doesn't offer downloads. Each track comes with the AI prompt used to make it, and you can copy it into Gemini to make your own (starting October 27, 2026).
  • DingSong does not, and cannot, claim copyright in this AI music, so it does not, and cannot, license anyone to use it. The full terms and disclaimer are in "Terms and disclaimer" on the BGM Prompt Library page.

AI-made music

  • Background music and the songs in Music Stories were made by DingSong with Lyria, Google's AI music model.
  • Google adds an invisible digital watermark called SynthID to every track. It's used only so people can check that the music was made by AI, and it doesn't change the sound.
  • When you post to YouTube or other platforms, whether to label it as AI-generated depends on each platform's rules (for example, YouTube's help page).

Instrument sounds

The sounds you play in Music Class, the Studio, and on the home page are all real instrument recordings, released by their authors under CC0. (Legally, no credit is required; we thank them here as the authors asked. This section has nothing to do with the background music; for background music, see above.)

  • Piano, harp, recorder, xylophone, glockenspiel, hand drums: VCSL (Versilian Studios).
  • Violin, trumpet, flute: VSCO 2 Community Edition (Versilian Studios / Sam Gossner, Ivy Audio / Simon Dalzell).
  • Cello: Karoryfer x bigcat cello.
  • Saxophone: Karoryfer Weresax.
  • Double bass: D. Smolken's double bass.
  • Acoustic guitar: FreePats Spanish classical guitar.
  • Drum kit and the Music Class metronome: Virtuosity Drums (Versilian Studios, Karoryfer Lecolds).
  • Dizi (bamboo flute): Freesound user Hypnotriod (sound pack 21613).

DingSong selected some of the notes, corrected their pitch, converted them to MP3, and trimmed them with a fade-out. The original authors were not involved and do not endorse DingSong.

WAV files you download from the Studio also include these credits in their file info.

Music Class songs and sheet music

  • We only include melodies whose copyright term has expired. Who wrote each song, the year, and which score we followed are listed in Music Class song sources and at the bottom of each song's page. Lyrics are checked separately, song by song, and any still under copyright are left out.
  • Sheet music links only go to sites with public domain or openly licensed scores, library scores you can view online, or legitimately sold sheet music. DingSong doesn't download sheet music for you or keep copies.

Fonts

Noto Sans TC, Noto Sans SC, Big Shoulders Display, Space Mono, and Source Sans 3 (used only for letters like ą and ř) are all licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and hosted on DingSong. The full license text is stored with the font files. The logo lettering is Bricolage Grotesque (same license), already converted to shapes.
