Play piano and drums on your screen, record them track by track, and layer them into a song. You can also put on headphones and sing karaoke. When you're done, download it to your phone or computer. DingSong doesn't keep your voice.Play piano and drums, and layer them track by track into a song.
Play instruments
Choose an instrumentPiano, guitar, drums, and more: tap one to play it right on the screen.Drums, guitar, and more. Tap one to play.
Press a key to hear it. When you're ready, press "Record 4 measures": you'll hear 4 count-in beats, then play 4 measures. When you finish, it becomes a track automatically.
Your privacy matters. Recording, processing, and making ringtones all happen in your browser. DingSong has no server that accepts files, so we don't, and can't, receive or keep your voice.
Enter a scorePaste numbered notation, or open a numbered-notation text file or a MIDI file. It becomes track 1, with chords added automatically.
Not sure? Choose "4 beats per measure": most songs use it. If the sheet music starts with 3/4, choose 3 beats; if it starts with 6/8, choose 6 beats (for songs in 2/4, 4 beats works fine). No sheet music? Sing and clap while you count. If "1 2 3, 1 2 3" feels right, choose 3 beats. If "1 2 3 4 5 6" feels like swaying, choose 6 beats (each number is one beat).
How to write numbered notation
- 1 to 7: Do to Ti. 0: a rest (silence). Put a space between notes.
- Add ' after a number for one octave higher, or , for one octave lower. Put # before a number for a sharp, or b for a flat.
- -: hold the previous note one more beat. Add _ after a number for half a beat (two of them for a quarter beat), or . for a dotted note (half a beat longer).
- |: a bar line, just to help you read. New line: a new phrase.
- Example: the first line of "Dreaming of Home and Mother"
5 3_ 5_ 1' - | 6 1' 5 - | 5 1_ 2_ 3 2_ 1_ | 2 - - -
The file opens on your device and isn't sent over the internet. From a MIDI file, only the highest melody line is used. Photos or PDFs of sheet music can't be read. The Studio holds up to 16 measures. Please enter only music you have the right to use.

The audio file you download is automatically set to about the same loudness as YouTube or music on your phone, without distortion. A MIDI file has no sound; it's for music software. To listen to your song, press "Download audio."
The notes you play (not the sound) are saved in this device's browser, so they'll still be here the next time you open the Studio on this device. DingSong can't access them. To take the sound with you, press "Download audio."
Karaoke
Choose a song
There are no pop songs here. You can sing classic songs and children's songs from DingSong (both the music and the lyrics are past their copyright term), sing over a backing track you made in "Play instruments," or open a song file you have (from your phone or computer).
Use your own song as the backing track
The file plays only on this page and isn't sent over the internet. When you close the page, it's gone, so you'll need to choose it again next time. iPhone: save the video to "Files" first, then choose it. Videos chosen from "Photos" get compressed.
Adjust key and speed
Put on headphones and test the mic
Sing with headphones on. Wired ones work best. Bluetooth headphones lag a little, so sync them once in the next step. You can also sing with speakers, but the backing track will be recorded too and the sound will be muddier: turn the speakers down and keep your mouth close to the mic.

Sing
Listen, and download it if you like it
Before you sing
- Sing with headphones on. Wired ones work best. Bluetooth headphones lag a little, so sync them once in step 4. You can also sing with speakers, but the backing track will be recorded too.
- Your browser will ask to use the microphone. Choose to allow it. Your voice stays only on your device.
- While recording, don't switch apps or lock the screen. An incoming call will also stop it. If it stops, what you've sung so far is kept, and you can sing again.
- When you're done, download your song to keep it. Your recording isn't saved, so it's gone when you close this page.
- Kids' recordings: a parent decides whether to share them.
Where the instrument sounds come from
All are recordings of real instruments, released by their creators under CC0 (no credit is legally required; we thank them here as they asked). Piano, harp, recorder, xylophone, glockenspiel, and hand drums: VCSL (Versilian Studios). Violin, trumpet, and flute: VSCO 2 CE (Versilian Studios / Sam Gossner, Ivy Audio / Simon Dalzell). Cello, saxophone, and double bass: Karoryfer (x bigcat cello, Weresax, D. Smolken's double bass). Acoustic guitar: FreePats. Drum kit: Virtuosity Drums. Dizi (bamboo flute): Freesound user Hypnotriod. DingSong selected some of the notes, corrected the pitch, converted them to MP3, and shortened them with a fade-out. The original creators weren't involved and don't endorse DingSong.
