Pick a song. The site plays it on the piano first, and the keys light up. Then it's your turn: play the keys as they light up.
Free. No sign-up. No piano to buy: play the keys on your phone, tablet, or computer screen. Can't get the hang of it? That's OK. Just listen.
- ListenThe site plays it once, and the keys and numbered notation light up.
- My turnThe key with the red outline is the next note. It waits until you press the right one.
- Play in timeThe site keeps the beat, and you play along with it.

Who wrote each song, and why everyone can use it: song sources
Kids
Color blocks fall onto the keys you need to press, and everything plays more slowly. Finish a line to earn a star. No scores. On a phone, turn it sideways so the keys are bigger.
Teachers
One line of standard numbered notation plus a big two-octave keyboard. Put it on a projector in full screen with one tap so the whole class can see. Each song teaches one idea, such as 3 beats per measure, the 5-note scale, or how phrases are divided.
Teens & adults
Light-up keys, plus a line of numbered notation that lights up with them. If you can already play, tap "Play now" to skip the demo.
Seniors
Big text, big keys, and a slower speed. The first time, choose what you're used to reading: 1 2 3, Do Re Mi, or just the light-up keys.
Classical favorites
Classical music you often hear in movies, ads, and ceremonies. We picked the most famous theme from each piece. Melody only, and every composer died more than 70 years ago.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
First time here? Choose the note labels you're used to.
You can change this any time in "Note display" below the keyboard.
Turn your phone sideways. The keys get bigger and easier to press.
Won't turn? Ask a grown-up to turn off rotation lock (iPhone) or turn on auto-rotate (Android). Or tap the button below to play with the phone upright for now.
Each option further along shows more of the music. You can always go back to "Lights only."

Write your own
Tap the number keys or piano keys to enter one note at a time. You can also paste numbered notation as text, for example "1 1 5 5 | 6 6 5 -". Each note you enter plays a sound.
Not sure? Choose "4 beats per measure." Most songs use it. If the sheet music starts with 3/4, choose 3 beats; with 6/8, 6 beats; with 2/4, 2 beats. No sheet music? Clap and count as you sing: if "1 2 3, 1 2 3" feels right, choose 3 beats; if "1 2 3 4 5 6" feels like swaying, choose 6 beats (each number counts as one beat).
Tap a number first, then a key like "Octave up" or "Add a beat" to change the note you just entered.
How to write numbered notation as text
- 1 to 7: Do to Ti. 0: rest (no sound).
- Add ' after a number: one octave up. Add ,: one octave down. Put # before a number: sharp. Put b: flat (shown as ♭ on the keys).
- -: one more beat for the note before it. Add _ after a number: half a beat (two of them make a quarter beat). Add .: dotted (half a beat longer).
- |: bar line, just to help you read. New line: starts a new phrase (used by "Repeat this line").

The music you enter is saved only in this device's browser. If you switch devices or clear your browser data, it will be gone. DingSong has no server that accepts files, so nothing is uploaded.
The "Copy share link" button appears only when "This song is" is set to "Written by me." Songs by other people are only for your own practice.
You can also drag a file straight into the notation box. Files are opened on your device. From a MIDI file, only the highest melody line is used. Photos or PDFs of sheet music can't be read.
